ATTENTION TO DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR TRAVELLING ON A CRUISE TOUR
To comply with check-in and boarding procedures at the Maritime Terminal of Salvador it is necessary to have the documentation required by the Cruise Companies and the federal laws considering the itinerary types/destinations.
CONTERMAS offers below some important information and links to guide cruisers in the organization of their journeys. However, we must keep in mind the rules issued by the Federal Police, the Federal Revenue Service, the Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA) and the Federal Justice.
TIP: The valid identity document for boarding must be in good condition and should show the passenger’s identification according to their current likeness. Under any circumstance is boarding allowed with copies of documents or even notarized.
Valid documents for Domestic Journeys
For journeys with stopovers only at ports/piers located along the Brazilian coast, the following documents are necessary:
- Adult Brazilians:Valid Identity Card (RG) or National Driver’s License (CNH).
- Underage Brazilians (12 to 18 years old: Valid Identity Card (RG).
- Brazilian minors (12 years old): Valid Identity Card (RG) or Birth Certificate.
ALERT for unaccompanied minors travelling with parents or guardians: Few people are aware, but in addition to the authorization to travel, it is necessary to present authorization for accommodation, under the terms of Law 8.069/1990, which provides for the Brazilian Child & Adolescent Statute (ECA).

- Foreign Residents in Brazil: Valid Passport (minimum 6-month validity) and valid RNE (Registro Nacional de Estrangeiros/Brazilian Resident Identity Card).
- Non-resident foreigners in Brazil: Valid Passport (minimum 6-month validity) stamped by Immigration, on the date of entry in Brazil.
Valid documents for International Journeys
For cruises with international destinations, at least the following documents are required:
- Brazilian Adults: Identity Card (RG) with a minimum of 10 years of issuance or valid Passport (minimum 6-month validity) for travel to Mercosur member countries. And only valid passport (minimum 6-month validity) for international cruises of Atlantic crossings. It is necessary to consult if a visa is required for the country of destination.
Attention: For international cruises, passengers are not allowed to board presenting documents such as CNH, CREA, OAB, among others.
- Foreigners Residents in Brazil: Valid Passport (minimum 6-month validity) together with the valid Registro Nacional de Estrangeiros/Brazilian Resident Identity Card (RNE), being necessary to check about the need of a visa for the country of destination.
- Non-resident foreigners in Brazil: Valid Passport (minimum 6-month validity) stamped by Immigration, being necessary to check about the need of a visa for the country of destination.
- Under 18 years old: Boarding of passengers under the age of 18, Brazilian or foreign, in addition to being regularly done with the aforementioned documents, they must comply with the specific rules for the cases in which they are travelling unaccompanied by their father and/or mother.

- Some countries require, upon the entry of foreigners, the presentation of health insurance or travel insurance. Make sure the requirements of each country in your cruise itinerary.
- There are countries that require the presentation of the International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis – CIVP. The Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency- ANVISA provides guidelines to travelers, considering the requirements of each country of destination.
